Senator Arley Gill made the remarks in commenting on a party executive meeting held Tuesday evening at the NDC’s headquarters in St. George’s.

“At the meeting, there was gentleman’s discussion on many issues,’’ Sen. Gill said without elaborating.

He said the NDC, as part of ongoing party activities, will be hosting a food and drink sale every Friday at its Lucas Street headquarters.

The first of the open house and sale will be this Friday, February 3.

“We’re living good, we’re eating good and we’re living together,’’ Sen. Gill said.

The Senator used the opportunity to dispel rumours of an alleged faction in the NDC led by General Secretary, Peter David.

“There is no Peter David faction in the NDC,’’ he said. “To the best of my knowledge, Peter David has never asked anyone in the party or government to support him.’’

In political circles, said Sen. Gill, Mr. David is known as “Peace Man.’’

“On contentious issues, he is always trying to make peace,’’ Sen. Gill added. “It bothers me when I hear and read in the press vicious lies about Peter challenging the leader or leading a faction.’’  

According to Sen. Gill, “Peter David has been the General Secretary of the NDC for many years and has never challenged anyone for any other position.’’

Asked about last Sunday’s meeting in St. David of the parliamentary opposition, Sen. Gill said there was no need for “undue concern or worry’’ about turnout at the NNP’s meeting.

The meeting, the NDC PRO said, was “a congregation of the NNP faithful. Both parties have their base and can mobilize their base for political meetings.’’
